Eclectic Pow Wow participation events set to go

Disc Golf Tourney is Saturday; Bean Bag Tourney on Tuesday

A pair of eclectic Pow Wow tourney participant events for the public are set to go over the course of the annual festival.

They include a Disc Golf Tourney this Saturday afternoon, and a Bean Bag Tourney to be held Tuesday evening.

Below are the details on each event:

 

Disc Golf Tourney

Pow Wow Disc Golf Tourney 2016 play is set to start at 3 p.m. this Saturday afternoon, June 18 at the Disc Golf Course at Lawcon Park.

Registration will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for this flex start time tournament. The contest will feature five divisions – open – with all ages welcome ($15 registration fee); open women’s division ($10 registration fee); adult rec division ($10 registration fee); ages 13-17 ($10 fee) and ages 12 and under ($10 fee). The first 50 players with paid entry receive a FREE disc (a $16 retail value).

The format of the tourney will be that the lowest 18-hole score (of two identical rounds) will win each division.

The winner and second-place of the open class, as well as the first-, second- and third-place in the remaining divisions, will receive cash prizes. (Cash prizes will be based on registration). Other prizes awarded will include discs, clay minis, glass blown-bag pulls, caps and bags.

The 2016 insignia, appearing on the discs (and above) was designed by Andy Harries. The glass blown-bag pulls were donated by Jamy Deboer.

In addition, there will be mini games set up for participation for those ranging in age from young-to-old. Prizes will be awarded.

To cap off the disc golf play, a fun night round will start around 8:30 p.m., or when the basket lights are completely set up.

Bean Bag Tourney

The basketball court at Mountain Lake City Park will be the setting for the 2016 Bean Bag Tourney, set for Tuesday, June 21. The rain location will be in the Mountain Lake Public Elementary School gymnasium.

Registration will run from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. (if not already pre-registered). Registration the day of the event is $25 per team. If you pre-register, the coast is $20 a team. The tournament will feature a true double elimination.

First-place will receive a $75 cash prize, while the second-place duo will be awarded $40 in gift cards.

The host for the tourney will be Game Plan Events. A portion of the profits will be donated to LifeLight, a fee Christian music festival held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota each year.
