A one-run win advanced the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) in the loser’s backet of double-elimination Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Section 2A games. MLA, the #4 seed, nipped #8 St. Clair 8-7 in a rain-delayed game this morning (Monday, May 30) at Caswell Park in North Mankato. The game was initially to be played on Saturday morning, May 28.

But, the 2016 season came to a close in the Wolverines’ today’s afternoon game against #6-seed, Sleepy Eye St. Public. Sleepy Eye tripped MLA 2-0.

The Wolverines end their season with an 18-4 record.

Sleepy Eye Public will face Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s (#3-seed), the winner over Nicollet (#5-seed) in a 5 p.m. match-up at Caswell tomorrow (Tuesday, May 31).

The winner of that game will play the #1-seed, New Ulm Cathedral, who lost today to Mankato Loyola, the #2-seed, 11-1 in six innings.

The Section 2A championship tilt will be at Caswell at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, pitting Mankato Loyola against either New Ulm Cathedral or the winner of the Sleepy Eye Public/Sleepy Eye St.Mary’s contest.
