To return next year to teach in MLPS elementary classroom

The resignation of Pamela Anderson from her position as 7-12 principal at Mountain Lake Public High School (MLHS) was approved at the Monday night, April 18 meeting of the Mountain Lake Public School (MLPS) School Board. It takes effect at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
The announcement was made by MLPS Superintendent Bill Strom following last night’s meeting.
In the news release, Strom noted that:
Pamela is a passionate and dedicated professional who has served our students, faculty, families and community with loyalty, integrity and the highest commitment over the past decade.
She took the reigns as our high school principal at a difficult time when, amidst other challenges, the district was bleeding open enrollment students to other districts. Since then, open enrollment figures slowly reversed to the point that in the past three years, we (MLPS) have more students entering the district than are leaving. She’s one of the longest tenured high school principals in southwest Minnesota (I’ve heard she’s tied for first place).
The direction the district will take to fill its need for high school leadership will be the reviewed in the upcoming days and weeks.
While Anderson has resigned from her position as principal, next year she will return to MLPS as an elementary teacher. She had earlier served the district as a sixth-grade teacher, fourth-/fifth-grade multi-age teacher and lead teacher/elementary principal.
A complete report on the minutes from the School Board meeting will be posted when released.
