Rough night for the team in several ways

IT WAS A rough Tuesday, December 15 night – in several ways – for the Windom/Mountain Lake (W/ML) Cobra Wrestlers. First -and second – they lost to both opponents at the Wabasso-Red Rock Central (WRRC) triangular meet held in Lamberton. The squad dropped their first match-up to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove (TMB/WWG) 50-29, and then were defeated by host WRRC, 47-23. In addition, one of their own – Jacob Suess – was taken off the mat on a stretcher and by ambulance to the hospital. The team’s Facebook page notes today (Wednesday, December 16), that the CT scan indicated no damage to the spine, Jacob will have an MRI to make sure all is okay. He is currently being treated for a concussion, He was injured during his 170-pound match with WRRC’s Nick Altermatt. In the loss to TMB/WWG, Zach Spinks recorded a fall at 126, Alex Borsgard added a technical fall at 132, Evan Wiens scored on a pin at 138, Jeff Wright added another fall at 170 and Jacob Suess won by forfeit at 182. Against TMB/WWG, Brett Willaby at 106 and Hunter Ekstrom at 113 each won by major decision and Spinks won by forfeit at 120, Borsgard recorded a fall at 132 and Wiens was the victor in an overtime decision at 138. Next up for WML is a tri meet at Windom on Tuesday, December 22, against Bird Island/Olivia/Lake Lillian/Danube (BOLD) and Canby.
