The Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Varsity Lady Wolverines Volleyball squad of Head Coach Cheri Hanson broke out of the funk they had been in to defeat Edgerton Public on the MLA home court 3-2 in play tonight (Thursday, October 1).
MLA broke out early with a first game win, 25-21. They dropped the next two, however, 20-25 and 18-25. On the brink of facing another match loss, the squad rebounded to even the match at two games apiece, winning game #4 in “extra points,” 27-25. They marched on to take the fifth – and deciding – game, 18-5. (Games are played to 25 points – with no points cap – and the fifth and deciding game is played to 15 points – again with no points cap.)
The remainder of the Lady Wolverines’ regular season schedule has them competing in the St. Clair Volleyball Tournament this Saturday, October 3, followed by a Tuesday, October 6 trip to face Adrian. The team is then off until Monday, October 12, when they host Westbrook/Walnut Grove on the Lady Wolverines’ home court. They end their regular season on Thursday, October 22, by hosting Ellsworth.
