This Monday is the date – weather permitting
Interstate #90 (I-90) motorists in Nobles County can return to driving on the new eastbound lanes beginning this Monday, Sept. 21 – weather permitting – but should expect westbound traffic to continue to be carried on one lane for about one more week as crews complete construction work.
I-90 traffic from Adrian-to-Rushmore has been restricted to one lane each way in the westbound lanes since June 15 as crews resurfaced the pavement on the eastbound lanes.
The project, which includes a concrete overlay, lighting, and signals for a smoother, safer ride, was awarded to PCI Roads, LLC of St. Michael for $7,239,175.
This project and other I-90 work can be found www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/I90preserve/
Constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, the I-90 pavements are nearing the end of their service life. The Minnesotea Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is investing $50 million in savings and $30 million of District 7 funds over the next few years into the rural interstate system to improve performance. The $80 million investment will improve 120 miles of some of the poorest interstate pavements and an additional $20 million will be invested to repair the bridges.
