The tough week continues for the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Volleyball team, the squad losing a tough match on the road in Lamberton in three games straight to Red Rock Central (RRC), a Red Rock Conference foe. Game scores were 22-25, 17-25 and 17-25.

“Yes, this was another tough loss for us,” states Head Coach Cheri Hanson. “We came out strong and led in the beginning of the first half of the initial game. Strong passing and fairly consistent serving just weren’t enough. We needed stronger blocking all along the front row – and even with utilizing Lexia Peters in the middle and using Carmen Syverson in the OH – it just didn’t quite do the trick! Close, but not quite. We keep improving with each game but with four girls on the RRC team over 5’11,” it was a tough battle. We hung in there and did some really nice things.”

Carly Paulson led with 7 kills and Carmen with 5. Signey Stoesz was 14/15 at the service stripe with 2 aces, Chanah Brandtwas 9/9 and Lexia Peters was 8/8 – and each had an ace. Emily Jahnke had 21 digs. Marta Stoesz had 9 set assists, Signe,y 7 and Jaden Hoek, 1.

The team is now 4-3 overall, and 2-2- in conference play.

Next up is Springfield on Monday, September 21, on the Tigers’ home court. Tuesday, September 22 is another away match – Southwest Christian in Edgerton.
