Lady Wolverines Varsity Volleyball traveled to St. James to face the Saints in a Monday, September 14 match, and were dropped by the hosts in three close games – by 10 combined points.

“The loss was a heartbreaker, but the ladies played with a lot of heart – and they have much of which to be proud,” declares Head Coach Cheri Hanson.  “The Lady Wolves had momentum at different points during games one and two, but just couldn’t quite push through to the finish.”

In Game #1 and Game #2, the Lady Wolves came up just short with identical 23-25 game scores. The third game decided the match with the Maroon-and-Silver losing 19-25.

“Our serving was off tonight – and we struggled to get a block up against the Saints’ Julia Beckius,” notes Coach Hanson. She adds, “At times our passing was spot on, and then it would turn around and our setters were having to work way to hard.”

Carmen Syverson led with seven kills, while Signey Stoesz went 18/19 from the service stripe, including one ace and Carly Paulson had strong play at the net.

Coach Hanson congratulates Saints Head Coach Steve Chapin on his 300th career match win for Saints Head Coach Steve Chapin. Chapin, earlier in his career, taught elementary physical education at Mountain Lake Public Elementary School, and also was the high school volleyball team’s head coach.

The Lady Wolves turn right around and return to action today (Tuesday, September 15), when they host the Fulda Raiders. On Thursday, October 17, they are on-the-road to Lamberton to face Red Rock Central.
