Good Sam Mountain Lake went to the ‘dogs’

Residents, tenants and staff of the Good Samaritan of Mountain Lake – The Lodge and The Village – went to the “dogs” on Friday afternoon, August 14 in celebration of an August “Dog Days of Summer.”

Going to the dogs provides so much more above and beyond just spending a few minutes with a furry friend. Dogs have the ability to help calm and soothe individuals, lift the spirits of those who are sad and lonely and buoy self-esteem. They also provide a medium for physical touch and activity.

Most importantly, a canine connection provides unconditional love and acceptance.

Good Samaritan of Mountain Lake residents and tenants – many of whom had dogs in their homes, and as part of their families, during their lifetimes – voted on a number of awards.

Awards presented included:

* Best Behaved – Bruno. A mini-pinscher/chihuahua visiting with his human, Haley Kaehler.

* Smallest and Fluffiest – Cocoa. A shih tzu/yorkie visiting with his human, Cheryl Harrison.

* Largest and Longest Tail – Niko. A Siberian Husky visiting with his humans, Esther, Luke, Zach and Caleb Klassen and Jessah Janzen.

* Loudest – Duke. A dachshupoo (dachshund/poodle) visiting with his human, Sharon Doherty.
