Fourth straight Minnesota State Class A Golf Meet appearance for Aaron Walzak

FOUR THE FOURTH straight year, recent Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) grad Aaron Walzak will head to the Minnesota State Class A Golf Meet after securing a berth by finishing second in the Section 2A Golf Meet held Monday, June 1, at North Links Golf course in Mankato – shooting at 74. For the fourth straight year, Mountain Lake Christian junior Aaron Walzak of the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) boys golf team, has qualified for the Minnesota State Class A Boys Golf Tournament. He advances by playing to a silver medal in the Section 2A Meet, held at North Links Golf Course in Mankato on Monday afternoon, June 1. Walzak shot a 74 to advance. Last year he finished third in the section meet.

Walzak had secured a berth in the section meet by topping the field at the North Sub-Section 2A Meet, held in the rain on Tuesday, May 26, at Buffalo Lake’s Oakdale Golf Club. He won the boys’ sub-section with a score of 78 – winning the title by four strokes.

The top five finishers move on to play in the state meet, to be held Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10 at Pebble Creek Golf Club near Becker.

Winning the section title was United South Central’s (USC) Ryan Pederson with his score of 71. Nate Pederson of USC, Jordan Henry of Madelia and Zach Monshaugen of Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton, all tied for third with 79 .

USC repeated as boys team section champs, the Rebels finishing with 327 strokes.
