Aaron Walzak ends prep golf career with 13th-place tie in State Class A

It was recent MLC grad’s fourth straight appearance in state meet

MOUNTAIN LAKE AREA’S Aaron Walzak closed out his prep golf career today (Wednesday, June 1o) with a 13th-place tie with Kyle Antes of Windom in the Minnesota State Class A Boys Golf Meet. The pair tied with replica 2-day totals of 157. On the first day of the meet (Tuesday, June 9), Walzak shot an 81 and came back today with a 76. Antes had an 84 on Tuesday and a 73 today to total his 157, This was the fourth straight that Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine and recent Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) grad Walzak had competed in the state meet. His first year at state, Walzak was a member of the MLC Bears Golf Team, and following sports pairing between MLC and Mountain Lake Public High School, became a Wolverine. The state meet was held at Becker’s Pebble Creek Golf Club over the past two days. Walzak secured his fourth state state trip by finishing second in the Section 2A Golf Meet held Monday, June 1, at North Links Golf course in Mankato – shooting at 74. He had earlier won the North Sub-Section 2A Meet by four strokes, with a 78, held at Buffalo Lake’s Oakdale Golf Club.
