A MOUNTAIN LAKE connection was between pilot and passenger was made up in the clouds today, February 17. On his Facebook page, Mountain Lake resident, mayor – and 1980 Mountain Lake Public High School grad – Mike Nelson, left, noted that the pilot on his American Airlines flight from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport was someone he was familiar with – Mountain Lake native, 1979 graduate of MLHS and son of the late Duane and Dorothea Olson – Deland Olson, right, currently of Becker. According to Nelson, “He even announced to the passengers on the plane when we were flying over his hometown “Mountain Lake!” High school contemporaries finding themselves flying on the same airplane – but with one in the cockpit and one as a passenger demonstrate what a small world it is.
