daniel strengeFuneral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, December 27, 2014 at Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell, Minnesota for 31-year-old Daniel Strenge of Sartell, who died Wednesday, December 17,  2014, after a long, painful, and courageous battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Interment will follow.

 

Bishop Jon Anderson and Reverend Jeff Sackett will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Celebration Lutheran on Friday, December 26, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a time of storytelling and prayer at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the day of the funeral.

Arrangements are by the Williams Dingmann Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.

Daniel was born in Fridley, Minnesota, the son of Larry and Elizabeth (Torkelson) Strenge. He lived in St. Paul, Minnesota until moving with his family to Brownton, Minnesota in 1987 and to Sartell in 1994.

He attended early school grades in Brownton and attended Sartell Schools from 4th -12th grade, graduating in 2002. Dan was very active in high school, participating as a three-sport athlete in football, wrestling and baseball. Daniel was in the top 10 of his class and was also active in National Honor Society, Student Council and was voted “most respected” and “most likely to succeed” by his classmates.

He graduated with honors from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, earning a physics degree. After college, he worked at Charles River Associates in Pasadena, California as a research analyst, and more recently at Cargill, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a commodities trader.

He was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell where he enjoyed participating on several mission trips.

Daniel was a very kind, compassionate and generous person. He enjoyed a good competition, especially through strategy games. He had a brilliant mind, was very well read and throughly loved to learn. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He was empathetic, a great listener, and was always a generous, wise, and loyal friend to many.

Survivors include his parents, Reverend Larry and Reverend Elizabeth Strenge of Sartell; brother, Nathan (Amy) Strenge of St Paul; grandmother, Grace Strenge of St James, Minnesota; aunts and uncles, Mae (John) Rowe, Charles (Becky) Torkelson, Carolyn (Brad Beneke) Torkelson, John (Linda Merritt) Torkelson, Diane (LaRoy) Fast, Mike (Deanna) Strenge and Tim (Steph) Strenge and many loving cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norval and Mildred Torkelson and Lawrence Strenge and cousin, Captain Levi Torkelson.
