Santa sparks Small Business Saturday

Ends his day by lighting up Mountain Lake City Park, greeting children and reading their letters

Appearances by Santa Claus sparked Small Business Saturday this past Saturday, November 29. The Man from the North Pole had a busy schedule, visiting Mountain Lake children during two stops and greeting kids in Butterfield following the annual Christmas tree lighting.

At the close of his hectic day, Santa arrived at Mountain Lake City Park at 5 p.m., aboard a Mountain Lake Fire Department fire truck – lights flashing and siren blaring – just in tip to do the honors of powering up the holiday lighting for Christmas in the Park.

In addition, Santa handed out treats, held photo ops with children and collected their “Letters to Santa in the Gazebo. Free hot cocoa and goodies were handed out to all those attending the official park lighting ceremony.

Christmas in the Park committee members include Cassondra Harder, Brittany Winters, Emily Adrian and Rachel Potter.

Earlier in the day, Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick paid a visit to Sweet Fields in Mountain Lake on Saturday morning in order to shake hands and greed children. This appearance was sponsored by the Mountain Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Claus also made an afternoon visit to Butterfield, where he had the opportunity to meet his fans and friends in that area.

Small Business Saturday – a day between Black Friday and Cyber Monday – was organized in order t0 encourage holiday shoppers to patronize the “brick-and-mortar” businesses that are small and local. A Vendor Fair Christmas Party was held at The Teal House in Mountain Lake as a fundraiser for Christmas in the Park. Vendors include Monica’s Jewelry, Thirty-One Gifts, Jamberry Nails, Pampered Chef, Usborne Books & More, Tastefully Simple, Teal House Treasures, Avon, Premier and Scentsy.
