April snow helps May grow

Indeed, the phrase “April snow helps May grow,” is a twist of the standard meme, “April showers bring May flowers,” but that adage doesn’t quite fit today’s scenario. Eight inches of heavy, wet snow fell in the area Thursday afternoon, April 3 to early Friday morning, April 4, clogging roads and driveways – and causing another snow day school closing.

The spring warmth of the sun, however, quickly began melting the newly-fallen snow from the topside, while the warming ground below did its best to make the white stuff disappear by soaking in all that it possibly could.

Below are a couple photographs of the snowbank windrows made in downtown Mountain Lake until they were able to be trucked away – hopefully not to be seen again for many months.
