Ron Mathiowetz passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014.

Ron Mathiowetz was born on February 10, 1948 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to Joseph and Ida (Treml) Mathiowetz, grew up on a farm near Comfrey and attended grade school in Leavenworth, Minnesota. Ron was a 1966 graduate of Comfrey Public High School and of Jackson Vocational School in 1968, where he studied to  be an auto body technician. He served his country with the National Guard for four years and did his basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. Ron worked for many years at Motor Inn in Estherville, Iowa before starting his own business, Ron’s Auto Sales, in Comfrey, where he worked until his death.

He was united in marriage to Beverly Dahna on April 5, 1986 in Estherville, and the couple resided in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, where they raised two sons – Todd and Eric. Ron was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey. He loved cars – whether that meant selling or buying cars – or attending Nascar events. His love of cars allowed him to travel to car auctions and car races, and he shared this love with his family. Many family vacations were created by ferrying cars back to Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife Bev; sons Todd (Darcy) of Mountain Lake and Eric of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister Shirley Nellis; brother Kenneth (Penny); grandchildren Hunter, Madison and Tyler; sisters-in-law  Janet (Virgil) Petersen and Judy Lundy; brothers-in-law Duane (Connie) Dahna and Bill (Becky) Dahna and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Vern and Doris Dahna and brothers-in-law- Ken Nellis and Steve Lundy.
