MnDOT pulls plows off roads

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) www.511.org website, snow plows have been pulled off the roads, and roads in the southern half of the state and up into the North Shore, are in either difficult or hazardous driving condition, with falling and/or blowing snow; with current wind gusts nearing 40 miles per hour. At 6:30 p.m., it was  reported that semi-trailer jack-knifed one mile west of Mountain Lake.

For the Mountain Lake area, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12 a.m., while in areas to the east, a Blizzard Warning is in effect also until 12 a.m.

Update: Minnesota State Highway 60 closed from Windom to St. James, and Highway 71 is shut down between Windom and Sanborn. As well, the area is now in a Blizzard Warning until 4 a.m. Friday, February 21.
