Peterbilt semi-tanker truck rolls on Highway 60 near Mountain Lake

Following a Tuesday morning, January 7 semi-tanker truck rollover on the four-lane divided Highway 60 near Mountain Lake, one lane of eastbound traffic was shut down while crews worked to pull the truck out of the ditch, slowing down traffic on the highway as well as clean up the ethanol spilled from the tank.

The 2009 Peterbilt truck, driven by 63-year-old Robert Nappin of Owatonna was westbound on Highway 60 when it went off the road and rolled over onto its side after trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle. Nappin was transferred to Windom Area Hospital in Windom with non-life-threatening injuries. The Peterbilt received moderate damage.

Assisting the Minnesota State Highway Patrol at the accident scene were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, the Mountain Lake Police Department, the Mountain Lake Fire Department, the Mountain Lake Ambulance Squad, the City of Mountain Lake Utilities, Cottonwood County Emergency Management, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Wayne Transportation and WCEC Emergency Spill Response.
