shirley-hagenFuneral services for 81-year-old Shirley Hagen of Comfrey, Minnesota, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in St. James, with Reverend Clinton Firstbrook officiating. The church is located at 225 Armstrong Boulevard South.

Visitation will be at the church the day of the funeral services beginning at 1 p.m.

Interment will at Albion Cemetery at a later date. The cemetery is located at 10454 250th Avenue in rural St. James.

Shirley Hagen passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Shirley Lorene Hagen was born on October 23, 1935, the daughter of Lenard “Lenny” and Wilma (Hegna) Redmond. She graduated high school in 1954, and worked at Schmidt’s Bakery in St. James.

Shirley married her beloved Sanford Hagen on October 17, 1987 and moved to rural Godahl, Minnesota. Shirley enjoyed gardening and flowers, fishing, pow-wows and afternoon drives with her pug. She loved tae-kwon-do and was a recommended black belt. She was an amazing seamstress, and loved quilting. Her favorite times were the one spent with her family! They were greeted at the door with lots of love, hugs and kisses. And no one ever left on an empty stomach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Hagen; her parents, Lenard “Lenny” and Wilma Redmond and her brothers, Lee Redmond and Daryl Redmond.

Shirley is survived by her children, Valerie Sargent, Lenny and Salome Sargent, Lisha Westman, Michelle and Tony Dunn and Cathy Sargent Hauer; her grandchildren, Sarah Moreno, Matthew Dunn, Jessica Frederikson, Ethan Hauer, Melissa Westman, Mark Dunn, Lydia Sargent, and Diana Sargent; her great grand-children, David, Ashanti, Christian, Aaden, Kinley, Sophia and Lincoln and sisters-in-law, Ella Dean Anderson, and Dorothy Redmond.
