The Saints will be marching into Homecoming Week 2016 from Monday, September 26 through Friday, September 30. Butterfield-Odin Public School (B-OPS) will be coordinating its coronation, athletics and in-school activities with athletic pairing partner, St. James Public School.

To get students and staff into the Homecoming spirit, a short Pep Fest will kick off the week on Monday at 12:05 p.m. Homecoming buttons will be for sale from Butterfield-Odin Public High School Student Council members for $1.50 each.

Coronation of the school’s Homecoming King and Queen will take place Monday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., in the gymnasium. Candidates for the Royal Couple will be the entire contingent of senior class members; for King – Tyler Miller, Ruben Suarez, Jose Arreola, Corey Cowell and Bruce Ringham and for Queen – Brianna Ringen, Brenda Rodriguez, Joanna Zuniga Ariaas, Heather Pankratz, Krisana Xayaphonesongkham and Victoria San Miguel. Each 7-12 high school class is asked to prepare a skit for Coronation.

Each day of the school week has been designated as a different Dress-Up Day for students in grades K-12. They include (although may be subject to change) –

  • Monday: Camo/Blaze Orange Day.
  • Tuesday: Sports/Hat Day.
  • Wednesday: Pajama/Bad Hair Day.
  • Thursday: Surf’s Up Thursday! (Beach wear/Hawaiian)
  • Friday: Saints Pride Day (Red/Black).

As well, high school grades 7-11, along with the student council, have been given an area of the school to decorate. Those areas are –

  • 7th-Grade: Hallway.
  • 8th-Grade: Study Hall.
  • Freshmen: Lobby.
  • Sophomores: Cafeteria.
  • Juniors: Gym.
  • Student Council: Stage.

On Homecoming Friday, classes will dismiss for lunch at 11:34 a.m., with 12 noon the scheduled time to complete trucks decorating for the parade (each class is asked to decorate a pick-up truck and create a class banner). Parade line-up will be at 12:35 p.m., with the Homecoming 2016 Parade taking to Butterfield streets at 12:45 p.m.

At 1 p.m. the Band/Seniors/Sports Team will leave for the Parade/Pep Fest at St. James Public High School, with that parade slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
