The Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Football squad displayed its strength by grabbing a big 9-Man win on-the-road over Madelia, 56-24. The win gives Head Coach Tim Kirk’s team a 3-0 mark on the season as they head into next week’s Homecoming Game at Munson Field against Hills-Beaver Creek.

En route to the convincing win, senior quarterback Levi Stoesz had a game to remember. He broke the Mountain Lake football rushing record, carrying the pigskin 14 times for a total whopping 334 yards – scoring four touchdowns en route. Stoesz also connected on two-of-four passes – scored another touchdown on a punt blocked by sophomore teammate Drake Harder, and, good for measure, added two more points for MLA on a safety. Additionally, he tossed a 90-yard TD pass, with junior AJ Vongsy on the receiving end. Another junior, Jeff Wright, ran 11 times for 81 yards – and a touchdown – and also led the “D” in tackles with 12.
